Yasmin Jane, one of our own MA Commercial Songwriting and Production students has just been accepted onto the Ninja Tune’s library on a Female Urban Artist Album!
With a background in sociology, her route into music was unconventional, but Yasmin’s commitment to chase her dream teamed with hard work is beginning to pay off. Yasmin wowed the Tileyard Music team with her application in 2017, they agreed that she had a unique and accomplished understanding of the pop and dance genres. Since starting Tileyard Education, Yasmin’s career has gone from strength to strength as she continues to collaborate and grow her music industry networks.
We caught up with Yasmin and asked her how she felt about being accepted onto the Ninja Tune playlist ‘Girls Do It Better’, a collection of female artists set for release very soon
“I’m so excited to have my first cut and been given this opportunity. I am a strong believer in Female empowerment and was excited to write a song about girl power. I met Electric Pineapple through Tileyard Education. TYe has allowed me to network and further my skills in songwriting, the tutors on the course have provided amazing guidance and assistance and the confidence to further my career. I am excited for my journey ahead and my upcoming solo project.”
Yasmin recently returned from a songwriting trip to Stockholm organised by Tileyard Education, where she got to write with some of the top Scandinavian writers and producers at AP Academy. With her networks ever-growing and huge successes before completion of the course, we feel certain that Yasmin is on the fast-track to fame and recognition for her talent.
Trina Smith, Director of Electric Pineapple Music shared the news with Tileyard Education and wrote;
“Andrew and I met Yasmin a few months back and were instantly impressed by her music, her vibe and her tenacity to achieve success; so when a music brief came up requesting Female Urban tracks for the Ninja Tunes library we approached her instantly!
Considering she hadn’t worked to brief in this way before, she wrote a fantastic song and constructively took onboard all feedback given and in the end produced a cracking track that has been officially accepted onto the library.
It’s not easy writing to brief or writing library music – some composers see it as something you can get out of the way quickly with little care and attention; Yasmin worked hard for this and it will certainly pay off.”
Yasmin will be spending the next month busy recording in our studio TYe London, preparing her final major project, a 6-track EP. Once the EP is completed, it will be shared with a collection of publishers and labels including Tileyard Music for more potential signed/publishing opportunities.
