go back

We are delighted to announce Music Management and Publishing Company Tileyard Music have awarded International Music Marketing student Melina with a £3000 bursary, and mentorship support.

As well as the generous cash award towards her tuition fees, Melina will be mentored by the Tileyard Music team and welcomed into their offices for an internship to learn all about the record label and publishing business. Melina is part of the first-ever cohort studying the new course ‘MA International Music Marketing’, and we caught up with her to ask how she feels this bursary is going to help her along with her career progression.

Congratulations Melina! How did you feel when you found out you had received the bursary from Tileyard Music?

“I honestly wasn’t expecting it, it was crazy because I never won anything in my life! I’m so happy it is going to help with my tuition fees, but I’m more excited for the work experience with Tileyard Music, and really looking forward to getting to know more about the business, the team and getting stuck in!”

So tell us, what makes you want to work in the music industry?

“I always wanted to work in the music industry, I’ve always been interested in everything to do with music but growing up in the French countryside, I never had the chance to experience a cultural city and the music business to understand how all the different parts come together. I love marketing because it helps to promote the artist and offers the most exposure. It also helps to build their audience and community. I am really interested in the community aspect because it has grown and evolved so much in the past decade. I love the idea of helping to build their careers, sustain them, and help them to last as long as possible. Helping artists get heard is my main motivation”

What made you decide to study at International Music Marketing for your Masters?

“I actually was targeted in an Instagram ad for the course, it caught my interest straight away, I had never found an ad that useful. Also, there aren’t many masters in music marketing, and definitely, none that were this specific and focused, it sounded like the perfect course. All the modules I have studied and the people I have met so far, whether my fellow students, teachers or guest speakers were amazing.

The community at Tileyard is amazing, I won’t find a place like this anywhere else, I love being there.”

Tell us your career goals?

“First I’d like to work in marketing with single and album releases as I feel it will bring me the most knowledge on how to work with artists. I then want to go onto work in A&R to discover new talent, and sign as much talent as possible. There are so many great artists out there that just need someone to believe in them!”

We are super excited to see how Melina’s career develops with the support of the team, Melina will also be launching her own blog series and interviews with the team that will be covered on Tileyard Music’s site.
