The MPA and Tileyard Education collaborate for ‘The Publishing Effect – A 101 of Music Publishing’

go back

The Music Publishers Association (MPA), plays an integral role within the UK’s music industry and creative sector.

Music publishing generates over a quarter of the UK music industry’s £2.6 billion in export revenue. The MPA’s role is to promote the value of publishing to the wider sector, to government, music fans and the general public.

The MPA Membership organisation represents over 200 music publisher companies, ranging from iconic indies to the international Major Publishers. The MPA Group also includes the MCPS mechanical rights organisation (representing over 22 thousand direct song-writer members) and, PMLL, providing licensed sheet music to schools and choirs.

The MPA offers a number of other facilities for music publishers and music professionals – including template contracts, blanket industry agreements and, as the national agent for the dissemination of ISMNs.

The MPA also offers highly reputable training and events for those seeking knowledge about music publishing and career development.

Covid-19 presents an extremely worrying and impactful time for the creative industries. In order to keep people connected and supported, many music organisations have been creating engaging online resources. The MPA is providing mental wellness webinars, training opportunities and fun activities, to keep quarantine positive and productive.

Tileyard Education are delighted to announce that we will be supporting the MPA’s ‘The Publishing Effect – A 101 of Music Publishing’ on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th May. This is the first online course of its kind from the MPA and, it’s free! Ticket holders will be invited to a two-day conference with guest speakers from iconic music publishers and experts providing talks on all aspects of music publishing, ranging from copyright to licensing, international relations, creative sync and A&R.

On day two of The Publishing Effect conference, Tileyard Education will be delivering a very special A&R Session with Trina Smith and Andrew Kingslow from Management and Publishing Company ‘Electric Pineapple’, hosted by our very own A&R Manager, Jamie Searls. The format will run similarly to previous TYE A&R events; more information can be found on the MPA website and further announcements nearer to the date.

Tileyard Education and The MPA have also been in discussions on ways to continue growing the partnership in future, including creative collaborations for song-writers and publishers.  Look out for some very special announcements later this year.
