The challenge is to create a coherent, and interactive product that brings together video, 1-2-1 tutoring, and community. In a way that creates an immersive and satisfying learning experience for the online student. Delivering meaningful interactivity is where we believe other online services, including YouTube, are missing a trick.
At MusicGurus we know that people get inspired to learn by the pros they watch on stage or hear on records. We wanted to capture that inspiration in online music courses. Successful performers, writers, producers and industry pros have that musical ‘secret sauce’, which students want. It’s what allows them to build on the foundations they establish with local teachers and reach that next level.
Not only do top musicians provide bucket-loads of inspiration – “I’d give my right kidney to be able to sound like that!”. But they have the ability to raise aspirations. They help students to see the bigger picture and the full possibilities of their instruments.
They don’t only provide insight into the mechanics, but demystify music making, explaining the habits, approaches, and mindsets that can help musicians of any level to raise their game.
However, these individual ‘gurus’ are both scarce and time-poor. At MusicGurus we record structured video courses which capture the insights and ‘gold dust’ held by excellent teachers so that anyone in the world to learn from them, in their own time and at their pace.
It’s around this content we build interactivity through adding a special slow-mo video player. Also, student assignments, quizzes, and tutoring for personal feedback and goal setting. Learning online can be lonely and boring – not so on MusicGurus! We’re passionate about delivering active learning that challenges the student.
