Tileyard Education proudly presents, on behalf of the MA Music Business students, On Top Records, a digital record label in collaboration with Tileyard Music, run by students, mentored by professionals.
This year, Tileyard Education and Tileyard Music are collaborating on behalf of the MA Music Business students to create a digital label that will be run and organized by the business students with the guidance of mentors from both companies.
Tileyard Education is situated in the largest creative hub in Europe, and students are exposed to some of the biggest music companies in the UK, one of them being Tileyard Music. TYM is a music management and publishing company that is home to some of UK’s biggest artists such as Sigala and Ella Eyre.
The team meets once a month at Tileyard with mentors from Education as well as A&R professionals from Tileyard Music. Each student is responsible for bringing in an artist and (or) specific tracks they have discovered, preferably unsigned. They will meet monthly with the A&R team and conduct listening sessions, during each meeting the team can pick an artist they wish to invest in financially, to help push a release. The end goal of the digital label is to invest in an artist and grow the roster.
This is an exciting opportunity for current MA Music Business students to grow something that has the potential to act as a direct filter between emerging talent and Tileyard Music. It is the beginning of a very exciting venture for both brands.
