Back in February, Tileyard Education took a team of hit-songwriters and producers to a private Riad in the heart of Marrakesh, for our second ever international songwriting camp!
Along with 20 emergings songwriters and artists, the team took over the Riad Beloiseau, located just East of Central Marrakesh, for 5 full days of writing and responding to commercial briefs.
The team were joined by Andrew Kingslow and Trina Smith (Electric Pineapple), Tiggi Hawke (Tileyard Music),Jon Kelly (JK Music), Jamie Duffin, Tom Read, Jo Jeffries (BMA’s), Aron Levi and Hannes Anderson to name a few!
Amidst the sunshine and scenic backdrop of blue skies and sand, the team worked together in groups daily to respond to briefs, and come together for a playback session every evening for live feedback.
Excitingly, this year, 5 of the songs pitched to SONY Music have been accepted to be taken onto a SONY Music library. The library means that 5 of the songs written will be living in a catalogue waiting for the opportune moment to shine! Trina (Electric Pineapple) pitched the tracks, and the team are just waiting on contracts to sign all deals off. The songs were all written in response to a Love Island brief, but have the potential to be used on any film or TV show. The catalogue opens up the possibility to be synced with Netflix, ITV and beyond!
Delighted for our dedicated team, and all the wonderful talent that came out of the camp.
The next Marrakesh Songwriting Camp will be taking place in Feb 2021, if you’re interested, you can find out more on how to apply here.
