MA Commercial Songwriting and Production students Marissa McKinnon and Charlotte Samady are this year’s Aston Microphones Bursary winners. Congratulations!
Marissa has spent her whole life on stage and in and around the arts. Studying Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Roehampton and working at multiple theatres over the last few years she is fully aware that talent, and in her case having an exceptional voice, is never enough. As a result, Marissa has consistently shown a dedication to improving and learning every day she has been a student at Tileyard Education. During her time here she has developed from not only being a captivating performer, but an impressive songwriter.
Charlotte already has an impressive CV outside of her songwriting career. Studying sociology at LSE and interning at Young Turks and Dice, Charlotte has shown a great understanding of the industry landscape and where to place herself. Over the past few years she has developed multiple artist projects spanning different genres linked by the purity of her vocals. Recently she has decided to focus her attention on developing her songwriting abilities and write in unfamiliar genres as a means to challenge herself and improve as a writer.
As well as both possessing a level of unquestionable talent, Marissa and Charlotte have shown a sense of commitment and dedication to their craft that is matched by Aston Microphones.
