Kyarah Boon Joins The International Marketing Team at Sony Music UK

go back

We hear you have some exciting news?

Yes! I am so excited to finally announce that I have been given the opportunity to work at Sony Music UK and to be part of the International Marketing team. An opportunity I thought was too good to be true! I am beyond excited to be working with such an amazing record label and to bring my creativity, skills, and knowledge to the amazing projects I will be working on.

Tell us how you heard about this amazing opportunity and the application process?

Back in January of this year, I organised an event at Tileyard Education while I was completing my MA Music Business studies. At this event, I met the amazing Charlotte Tindle, who informed me that Sony hires a handful of interns for a one year programme as she suggested that I should apply. It was strange, but the moment she told me this, something told me that this would be the next step into my career.

The application process took about 4 months with many interviews, tasks, and stages to get through. After hearing that 8000 people applied for the same role as me I feared my chances would be slim. However, I kept my focus and made sure that I really gave it my all.

What did you study at Tileyard and how has the experience helped you?

I completed the MA Music Business course back in September, and I can honestly say that choosing to study at Tileyard Education was one of the best experiences. Tileyard helped me gain all the necessary knowledge from a music business point of view and supported me in networking with the right people. I mean if it wasn’t for Tileyard I wouldn’t have met Charlotte!

Are you excited? What are you most looking forward to?

I am beyond excited, there are really no words! I never thought I would be able to say that I have been selected to work at Sony and to now have this opportunity I can’t wait to grow and learn so many new skills. I am specifically looking forward to seeing how Sony creates all its international campaigns, and hopefully, I’ll be working with some of the artists that I listen to.

We are sure we will be seeing much more from you, what are your aspirations for the future?

I’ve always wanted to work on the international side of things, as I come from a very international background myself. So being able to combine my passion for music together with my knowledge on different cultures is really where I see a successful future for myself. My aspirations are to keep growing and to develop myself as a music business entrepreneur.
