This August, MA student Jessie Dipper steps into a new role at the Confetti Institute in Nottingham, as a lecturer, bringing her wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to a new cohort of students in 2024.
Jessie’s love for music started early, with songwriting becoming a significant part of her life. Her ambition has always been clear: to make a living through music. This drive has taken her on a diverse and enriching journey, filled with unique experiences that have shaped her into the musician she is today.
Musical Background
Her musical path is marked by extensive gigging, recording, and touring. Jessie’s tours have taken her from the UK to places like New Zealand and Australia, where she followed her target audience and seized every gig opportunity. These experiences not only honed her craft but also gave her a profound understanding of the music industry’s challenges and opportunities.
Jessie’s previous experience also includes attending ACM for a BTEC in music and songwriting. She then pursued advanced studies at Tileyard, taking part in our dynamic songwriting camps, which further refined her skills. Her music blends folk, rock, and pop, showcasing her versatility and ability to connect with diverse audiences.

Leadership and Teaching
Jessie’s teaching career has roots in her various roles leading workshops, conferences on cross-cultural music, and hosting safe space groups. Along with her church background and experience leading worship, this enabled her to learn how to blend commercial music with storytelling and spirituality.
Her trips to Marrakesh in 2020 and 2024 were particularly transformative, deepening her commitment to songwriting. “It blew my mind,” she recalls of Marrakesh, “I realised it’s exactly what I want to be doing.”
The Dream Role
Achieving this role at Confetti Institute is a significant milestone for Jessie, so soon after finishing her MA at Tileyard Education. Jessie will be teaching music performance to higher education students, guiding them through their first to third years. She aims to bridge the gap between traditional music education and contemporary industry practices.
Jessie’s role at Confetti is more than just a job; it’s a continuation of her lifelong passion for music and education. She sees lecturing not as a compromise but as an integral part of her journey, enabling her to support and inspire the next generation of musicians. “When you consider a teacher or someone behind the scenes, it really is a big part of the journey, enabling the dream,” she reflects.
