Music degree students in London can now enjoy the very best facilities, real-life industry experiences and a contemporary curriculum thanks to a new partnership forged by two of the UK’s leading educational institutions, benefiting the UK’s music industry.
Nottingham Trent University London — a new 35,000 sq ft leading edge university campus in East London which opened its doors last autumn offering vocational degree courses in the creative and entertainment industries — has joined forces with Tileyard Education, the world’s largest professional music community based in Kings Cross. Tileyard London is a creative hub home to over 200 music businesses such as Soundcloud, Ableton and Believe, and over 150 private recording studios, home to The Prodigy, Noel Gallagher and more.
The partnership will mean that students studying at Nottingham Trent University’s London campus will also have access to Tileyard’s dynamic workspaces, extensive network of industry professionals and state-of-the-art studios.
Students studying music production, music business, commercial songwriting and production, and sound engineering will all benefit from the strategic partnership, which is designed to nurture a new generation of UK musicians, producers, and industry leaders by facilitating real industry connectivity.
Tileyard Education prides itself in the opportunity it provides its students and alumni, continuing the relationship with students long after they graduate. Its conviction is that students derive the greatest advantage from their direct involvement in the industry, for this reason we focus on talent incubation and skill development with a goal towards commercial success from the moment you start your course.
Over the past 18 months, Tileyard Education signed over 250 single song agreements for their students and alumni. 66% of their music business students in 2022 walked into full-time careers in the music industry. This remarkable enclave in the heart of London not only nurtures artistic growth through its vibrant community, it also empowers individuals to forge meaningful connections, access invaluable resources, and ultimately amplify their creative aspirations across music, gaming, entertainment and multimedia.
NTU has delivered pioneering creative education aligned to the entertainment industries and is currently the UK’s no.1 university for employability.
Jamie Searls, Managing Director of Tileyard Education, said:
“We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter with Confetti and NTU. This partnership offers students the unrivalled opportunity to supercharge and fast-track their careers. Our dedication lies in charting innovative pathways to nurture talents, commercialise skill sets, and forge vital industry connections. Our focus is to catapult creatives into employment. Putting student and alumni experience first. No exceptions.”
Nick Keynes, Founder of Tileyard London, said:
“This exciting new partnership with Confetti will give Tileyard Education the opportunity to amplify what we have been doing since our launch 5 years ago. Our shared vision and values will hopefully allow us to set new standards with respect to incubating and developing talent and building careers in the music and creative entertainment industries.”
