In this week’s episode hosts Lucy Macieira and Matt Williams sit down with Pete Bott, a Music Lawyer working at Sound Advice, based at Tileyard London.
Pete started his career as an artist, writer and producer with Warner/679 signed electro act Heads We Dance, Pete Bott then gained a master’s degree in law and qualified as a solicitor in 2012.
Pete moved to London in 2015 to focus his specialism on music and media law, and his clients now include artists such as Bring Me The Horizon, Let’s Eat Grandma, While She Sleeps and Fox Stevenson, as well as writers, producers and managers across all genres of music. In addition, Pete carries out business affairs support for independent record labels including Easy Life Records, and continues to advise on company/commercial matters.
Pete is also on the panel of recommended solicitors for PRS for Music and BASCA, he is a member of the Association for Electronic Music and is a Friend of the Association of Independent Music.
Pete also lectures on music law and business at several universities and colleges, gives presentations and seminars, he has also been part of many panels for organisations including BBC Introducing and PRS for Music.
