Tileyard Education is delighted to announce a very special edition of the A&R Sessions this August, with very special guest Elly Jackson aka La Roux.
South Londoner Elly is a powerful figurehead for women in music, she is out-spoken and proud. She is a multi-talented songwriter, producer and artist and is best known for her self-titled album ‘La Roux’, released in 2009 on Polydor. Elly released a second album ‘Trouble In Paradise’ in 2014, that pushed successful singles ‘Uptight downtown’ and ‘Kiss and not tell’. Her song ‘Bulletproof’, off of her self-titled album, received both critical and commercial success. Still, an anthem widely played 10 years on, it even made its way into the Rolling Stone’s top 25 ‘ Best Songs of 2009’.
Elly is known by her fans for taking her own creative and personal directive and making intelligent, thought-provoking music with a dance and disco flair. Elly stopped in to talk to the Tileyard Education team earlier this year for a very special feature of ‘At The Yard’ Podcast in partnership with Music Jobs. In the episode, she discusses her vulnerabilities, her highs, her lows and, most excitingly, her upcoming album due to drop later this year. You can listen to At The Yard with La Roux here.
Elly has been radio-silent on social media for the past 2 years, leaving fans intrigued and we are sure Elly’s comeback isn’t going to disappoint.
In the build-up to La Roux’s new album release, we will be hosting Elly again this August 28 for an evening of conversation and to provide artists with live feedback on their music. In this one-off intimate experience, she’ll be live on stage whilst we ask her questions about her journey and what to expect for the next year.
Alongside this, Tileyard Education also has a very exciting project with Elly in the pipeline, working with women in the studio and more information on that will be dropping on that very soon.
You can grab your ticket to Elly’s event here. Be quick, this one will sell out in a flash.
