No prior knowledge of podcasting is required for this course and the software used is easy to pick up and cheap to purchase after if you choose to use it.

The course naturally has a strong music broadcast focus but will be equally beneficial to those looking to produce spoken-word podcasts with our without copyrighted music and sound beds.

  • What are the key differences between a podcast and broadcast media?
  • What do I need to operate legally?
  • How can I achieve the best technical setup for my budget?
  • Terminology in broadcast media and fundamentals of the medium
Day 2: Content is King
  • How to schedule and structure a show
  • Beyond Production and into Presentation – finding your USP
  • Distribution and Promotion
  • Practical exercise: produce a podcast under guidance in our tech lab

About David Parish

David has been a podcast and streaming radio presenter for 16 years, producing podcasts for Zero 7, The Fratellis, Pete Tong and Sir Tom Jones. Additionally, he has been responsible for managing PR campaigns for a third of the Top 40 and has advised PRS on licensing and legal requirements for podcasting in the UK.
