Haula was the first ever awardee of the Spitfire Audio Scholarship which covered the full fee of her Masters at Tileyard Education. She has also been funded by MOBO & Help Musicians to support her releases. She has been championed by BBC Introducing with radio play from BBC 1 (Huw Stephens), BBC 6 (Tom Robbinson) and BBC 1XTRA (Jamz Supernova). She has been nominated for a UMA in two categories: Best Female Solo Act and Best Urban Act 2018. Haula has also been featured inNME / Q-Magazine / Line of Best Fit / Pigeons and Planes / MTV / The Clash, The 405 / AFRO-PUNK, Okayplayer / PRS M-Magazine .

Hailing from Oxford via Uganda, now London based emerging singer and songwriter Haula has been building a remarkable underground reputation since her debut soul-bearing pop/soul cuts ‘Darkest Hour’ and ‘Freedom’. Fast forward to 2018 and 5 releases under her name, Haula has picked up considerable tastemaker support from the likes of NME Magazine, Lines of Best Fit, Pigeons and Planes, PRS M- Magazine and The Unsigned Guide to name but a few. Underpinning a considerable talent for melody and a haunting, natural vocal, radio support has followed via BBC R1 and Huw Stephens as well as BBC 6Music and BBC 1XTRA. Championed by her local BBC Introducing Oxford, Haula has played at some of the UK’s best venues/ festivals including the o2 Academy and Truck Festival.

Citing Etta James, Nina Simone, Beyonce and Sia as her main influences, Haula’s sound is an amalgamation of uniquely infectious pop melodies, soul and Blues. Drawing from her personal life experiences hers is a raw, timeless and effortless style. Haula showcases a talent for delivering emotive and relatable lyrics and melody. When it comes to live performance, Haula has graced some of the UK’s popular music stages including, Ronnie Scotts, o2 Academy, the Bedford, the Troubadour, Truck festival and has played across Oxford, London and New York.

Honing her songwriting, Haula has worked on material with songwriter to the stars Jinjin and Metropolis studios and is currently at world-renowned Tileyard Studios completing a Masters in Commercial Songwriting and Production after being awarded a full Scholarship from Spitfire Audio. 2018 was a big year with Haula heading to music mecca, Nashville to work with songwriters (Lamont Logic Coleman, Lisa Goe) on new material, followed by a headline show at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. After receiving a further grant from the MOBOS/ Help Musicians UK to work on new music and being nominated for a UMA in two categories: Best Female Solo Act and Best Urban Act 2018, Haula has been working on new music with Tileyard Music own producer Steve Manovski (Sigala / Nile Rogers / Ella Eyre).
